I often visit the National Railway Museum's outpost at Shildon where I take lots of photographs for reference material and possible subjects to paint. One such photo was used for this painting entitled "Fletcher 901".
I just used part of the photo, which captured the front end of No 910, the spring, the brass valves and the copper pipes.
The steam engine is of the 901 class, built for the North Eastern Railway by Edward Fletcher. He was apprenticed to George Stephenson and worked on the building of Rocket.
The painting was exhibited at the Guild of Railway Artist's 'Railart 2013 Exhibition', held at the Locomotion, Shildon.
