Chris Pulham Railway Artist

Gresley ex-LNER J50 0-6-0T 68988 at Leeds Copley Hill loco shed, in summer 1962. One of four J50 (colloquially known as an Ardsley Tank) based at Copley Hill and used to shunt the Carriage sidings.

The BR 'Ferret and Dartboard' motif has been applied above a large repair patch on the side-tank.

The loco spent many years at Copley Hill. It was withdrawn in September 1963 and scrapped soon after. None of the class survived into preservation.

Copley Hill shed closed down in September 1964 and the site is now occupied by an industrial estate.
